Microscope Work (Final Piece)

Towards the end of the project I decided to purchase a digital microscope to play around with and incorporate into my macro work. I found that using the microscope, every detail of an object could be picked up, I started by looking at the £5 note and saw that by using the microscope, every scratch, thread and crease could be seen, transforming the obejct form a piece of paper into something with a personality, something with history. I then took it further and as seen below I took an electrical object (Playstation controller) and took it apart to take the macro photography, this way we got to see the iner-workings of the object, however using the microscope focuses more on the structures, colours and perosnality of the object and its inner mechanics as opposed to taking photos quite clinically and formal, something that is usually seen with electrical mechanics. I think this idea for a final piece prefectly brings together the two majors ideas I have been working with, the use of the microscope gives an extreme macro effect and enables us to see the detail and pieces of something that usually would not be noticed, also displaying them with the original item gives a sense of perspective in the distinct difference between the object as a whole and close up focus on its features and components. In turn all this gives the object a personality and forces people to see the aspects other wise unknown or unseen to objects which are either widely used or normally quite dull.
